Our Work in Central Texas
“Level The Field” Shoe Program
Lack of access. For some children it’s a way of life. We want to remove a BIG barrier to athletics participation in middle schools: Lack of access to proper footwear. Let’s work together to make sure lack of proper footwear is NOT a barrier to competing in middle school athletics in Central Texas!
“Feed Kids Right Now” Backpack Program
Each child receives a backpack filled with 5 meals plus snacks to eat throughout the weekend. Our food security programs fill food gaps for children over weekends and school breaks, a time when children may not have access to food or enough food.
- HaysHope2Go: serves 28 campuses in the Hays Consolidated Independent School District!
- Dripping With Hope: serves all of the schools in the Dripping Springs Independent School District!
- and more!
A $5 DONATION WILL PROVIDE A CHILD A BACKPACK BAG: FOOD FOR AN ENTIRE WEEKEND!
Our team spends over 60+ hours a month meal prepping and delivering backpacks and relies heavily on donations from our community to supply as many meals as we can.
Since July 2020, we have provided more than 1.1 MILLION meals to children and families from Central Texas to Central America!
Our Work in Guatamala
Our community development work goes beyond food intake and nutrition, because the children and families in our communities face health challenges even beyond malnutrition, which significantly limit their ability to grow and develop properly. We also address community health issues such as water sources contaminated with pathogens, as well as a lack of bathrooms and open cook fires that leave children inhaling smoke for hours each day. Water filters, latrines, and safe cooking stoves greatly improve health and safety outcomes for families, creating the kind of generational impact that will change the trajectory of entire communities!
Guatemala is Among the 6th Highest in the World for Chronic Malnutrition
This especially impacts newborn children. Nutrition, or lack thereof, in the first 1000 days of life (conception to their 2nd birthday) will have a permanent impact on a child’s cognitive and physiological development.
Reducing Malnutrition; Enhancing Education
Our Preschool Nutrition Programs in 15 communities in the central, eastern, and western regions of Guatemala have seen malnutrition rates go from 73% to 0% after 12 months in the program.
In addition to providing a hot and healthy lunch for children from preschool to 6th grade, our school lunch programs have also led to significant increases in school enrollment, attendance, and performance.
Improving Water Quality & Accessibility
Along with nutrition, we have found that access to clean water and regular doses of anti-parasite medication help to promote optimal health.
To date, we have provided access to clean water for more than 4000 people in 14 communities, and we offer anti-parasite treatment every 6 months to children under age 13 in our partner communities.
The Big Picture
Our team spends over 1000+ hours every month supporting the families in Guatemala. Our goal is not simply to provide for children and families, but to partner with communities and work together toward a better future.
Our vision is to work with as many communities as we can until the rate of malnutrition in Guatemala is 0%. It’s a big vision, and we cannot get there without the help of our generous donors. All of this is made possible with the help of our volunteers and donors, who have donated hours of their time and money to help the kids in Guatemala.
